Celebrate Pro Bono Week by Volunteering to Make a Difference

From William Pfeifer, About.com GuideOctober 22, 2010

The National Pro Bono Celebration happens the week of October 24-30, 2010. Sponsored by the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service, the celebration is a coordinated effort to meet the needs of people unable to afford the costs of legal services.

Does your law firm have a pro bono program in place? Have you considered taking a few hours out of your year to volunteer to help someone who otherwise could not afford to receive legal services? Have you considered using pro bono work as a way to get experience in a new area of law? Remember that in most cases, it only takes a few hours of your time to make a dramatic difference in someone else's life.

To learn more about how your firm can get involved in pro bono work, visit the Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility section of this website, where you can find information on how to get involved in a pro bono program near you or in a practice area that interests you. If your firm is already involved in pro bono work, share your thoughts and experiences by starting a discussion in our Forum.
